I researched many Top 10, Top 50, and Top 100 lists of playwrights and compiled them together into a list which I believe takes into account contribution to theater, originality, authenticity, and contribution to society as a whole.
Each playwright featured has written numerous great plays and contributed in a meaningful way to the progression of theater over time. This list includes playwrights from all over the world. My goal with this list is to encourage readers to look each of these playwrights up, read some of their work, and learn how different every human being is. What might be considered "great" to one person might be considered "boring" to someone else, and it's this diversity of opinion that makes our world such a great place. The more open-minded you can be about what constitutes interesting, engaging, and valuable work, the more quickly you'll become better as an actor. Shall we begin?
