It’s easy to fall back on a go-to makeup look, especially because we’ve all had those times where we’ve decided to “try out a new look” and it hasn’t gone quite as planned. Here are some quick, easy ways to change it up!
1. Apply your foundation with a different brush than you normally would.
I know it seems simple, and that it won’t make a much of a difference, but it’s a good warm-up to get you out of your comfort zone. If you usually use a paddle foundation brush, try going for a stippling brush or Beauty Blender.
2. Watch youtube tutorials on new makeup styles.
It’s extremely helpful to see someone else breaking down every step, and giving you tips along the way. And don’t worry about having every single product that they do. Chances are if you don’t have the exact eyeshadow, you’ll have something similar.
3. Give your makeup multi-use!
As a makeup artist, I’m always having to improvise, and it’s made me realize that most makeup is useful in more than one way. Use a dark eyeshadow as a smokey eyeliner, or use a concealer as an eye primer if you’re in a pinch. My makeup biggest secret is using Mac’s “Copperplate” shadow to fill in the eyebrows. It’s the perfect taupey/gray to match anyone’s eyebrows!
