I wanted to talk about some of the cool conversations I get to have with some of the clients who come in our doors. When I'm not writing or doing makeup I find myself reading a lot, particularly either science fiction or novels researching into science fiction concepts that have made their way into reality. Rarely do I get to speak to people about my adoration for Artificial Intelligence and our quick move towards the 2045 Initiative (Look it up! It's really interesting) but I had the joy of getting to speak to a client about how we share the same interest in science fiction novels (Neil Stevenson! Woo!) and how much of the technology we say we are just on the cusp of is hidden behind closed doors waiting for the day it will be released to consumers.
I always really value these conversations I get to have with clients. While we both come from very different fields its nice to find shared interests and hear their perspective as well as learn about their respective trades.
I've also learned a lot about some of the professions that while not in the public eye are very important to society. About a year ago I had a client that while I do not remember the name of her profession told me about how she and her team surgical tasks while the lead surgeon stands by, often doing the dirty work for him or her. I've also learned numerous secrets of trades that while I will never be part of, I feel that I'm part of a secret club that only few know the intricacies of.
