I had to pleasure of volunteering at CGS (Contemporary Guidance Service) speaking to Special Needs adults about Photography. When Martin mentioned he would be attending the forum I immediately jumped on the opportunity, but I had no idea how the experience would effect me moving forward.
The room was filled with about 50 - 60 people and initially I didn't know what to expect. I knew we would be facilitating, but I didn't know how they would respond. But honestly, they were the most loving and genuine people I had every met in my entire life! They were so warm and inviting. I thought I was going to have to excuse myself the room because I becoming overwhelmed with emotion at one point. It's changed my outlook of this world and has inspired me to be a warrior for the disadvantaged. It's amazing how differently life can appear sometimes once your adjust the lens(no pun intended). After, the supervisor kept thanking us for coming and much they all enjoyed learning about photography.
It was a truly humbling experience and I'm grateful to have met such beautiful spirits! As you can see in the picture below, I was uber excited to be there LOL!!
If there is a organization you are passionate about and want to give your energy, please do! It's completely changed my perspective and I feel like a better person because of it!
