I need to stress that your clothing in a headshot won't be what books you. What books you is your face and your expression.
Now this doesn't mean that you should wear crappy clothes on your headshot day, because your clothes have to compliment your character.
What do I mean by this?
I mean that when you get your headshots taken, you will be playing different characters. Each one of the characters should have an outfit to compliment them. You should look good but not expect to get cast into a Sean John commercial just because you're wearing a Sean John outfit.
So many actors think that the casting director might see that they are wearing a no name shirt, and so they get worried that they should buy an expensive or fancy shirt for the headshot session. That is pointless because the casting director couldn't care less what you are wearing in the headshot. Remember that for future headshot sessions, and don't spend a lot of money on brand new clothes.
As Peter Hurley says, "Wear what you love."
