An important thing to remember is that those who are recognized as the experts are those who wind up succeeding if they give themselves a chance and are willing to take risks.
All professors and teachers are recognized as experts on certain subjects, right? Why aren't they rolling in tons of money? Because although they ARE experts on their subject, they haven't promoted that and let people know it. The reason is because they are happy where they are and they love what they do. They don't plan to start selling their knowledge and profiting off of it. But you can.
Think about if you were recognized as an expert on comedy... Someone like Jerry Seinfeld has established this. This is called branding yourself.
You must brand yourself as an expert on ONE particular thing. If you try many things it won't work. Show your knowledge and the word will spread, and then you can use your newfound popularity to become known for other things besides the one. I believe the only tried and true way to spread the word is for you to make it easy for others to want to spread the word about you, and to self-promote as much as possible on that one thing you want to be known as an expert in.
The first step to doing this is to brand yourself as an expert in one particular area among people around you, and then let them spread the word.
