What makes a great outdoor headshot? I'll tell you:
1. Use of space in the headshot.
2. Use of light in the headshot.
3. Use of color in the headshot.
The three things I mentioned above are crucially important if you really want a good outdoor headshot. You need to find a headshot photographer who can deliver on all of these. I'll be explaining them in future articles in more detail, but for now I'll just say this:
Space determines how your character interacts with the environment in the headshot. The space should compliment the character.
Light determines the character's mood. It should compliment or contrast for effect the character in the headshot.
Color should determine how vibrant a character is. Bringing it out or toning it down can make a huge difference in the effectiveness of the headshot.
